Engineering Support for Vibration Isolation & Control

AB Pneumatics provides technical and project-based engineering services focused on vibration isolation, shock absorption and rubber-based solutions for demanding industrial applications.

We work closely with OEMs, engineers and project teams to support new machine development, upgrades and bespoke projects, ensuring vibration isolation is correctly specified, validated and implemented. Our role extends beyond product supply — we provide engineering input, application insight and testing-backed support that reduces risk and improves long-term performance.

Application Assessment & Technical Review

Every project begins with a detailed understanding of the application. Our engineering team works with customers to assess:

  • Static and dynamic load conditions
  • Operating speeds and excitation frequencies
  • Installation and space constraints
  • Environmental factors such as moisture, debris or corrosive conditions
  • Required vibration isolation and damping performance

This upfront engineering review allows us to identify the most appropriate Donut Spring or vibration isolation solution for the application.

Donut Spring Selection, Sizing & Specification

As specialists in Donut Rubber Springs, AB Pneumatics provides detailed guidance on:

  • Load range and stiffness selection
  • Deflection characteristics and stability requirements
  • Natural frequency considerations for effective isolation
  • Long-term durability and fatigue performance

Where standard products are suitable, we ensure they are correctly specified. Where they are not, we develop custom or modified solutions to meet specific project requirements.

Testing & Performance Validation

AB Pneumatics supports engineering decisions with in-house testing capability. Using our Instron 8801 servohydraulic test machine, we carry out static, dynamic, cyclic and fatigue testing to validate Donut Spring performance under real operating conditions.

Testing allows us to support product development, refine designs and provide data-led guidance for new or challenging applications.

The Instron 8801 enables a wide range of testing methods, including:

  • Static load and deflection testing to establish stiffness and load capacity
  • Dynamic and cyclic loading to evaluate behaviour under operating conditions
  • Fatigue and durability testing to assess long-term performance
  • Comparative testing across different spring sizes, load ranges or designs

This testing capability allows us to:

  • Validate Donut Spring selection for specific applications
  • Support new product development and bespoke designs
  • Provide data-led guidance for project engineers
  • Reduce risk during new machine development and upgrades

Testing is fully integrated into our engineering process, supporting informed decisions rather than assumptions. Further research and investments are being made to develop these capabilities  to perform alternative tests such as ‘creep’ testing to help accurately predict the lifespan of a Donut Spring in various conditions.
